fun with a mac

My mom got a new Mac. She has the newer model with the camera built in. When I picked up the boys today, I commented that I wanted to see her new computer. Turns out, they (Harrison, Charlie & Maddie) have been having a lot of fun with it. Of course, I couldn't resist. For this photo, I picked the "Pop Art" mode. I think Andy Warhol would be proud, either that or he's turning in his grave.

Is it wrong to love paper? Basic Grey's newest line looks like it is going to be my favorite one. It reminds me a little of quilting, maybe that's why!

Year of the pig? Nope....

as far as my mom and I are concerned, 2007 is the year of the quilt. You may recall that I was going to sign up for a quilting class. Well, the quilt store had a class set for October, but I went up north in October for a fabulous girl's weekend. Easy decision for me. So my mom and I have really been anxious to start and I have everything I need to get going, but the first cut is the hardest. I am going to start with a quilt for Harrison or Charlie. Eventually I want to make them each one, then maybe tackle one for Robert and I. I know, I dream big. Wish me luck! I'll post pictures soon, I want to show you the fabric I got.

Bye bye My Thai!

We went out to dinner tonight for my parent's 43rd anniversary. Nothing fancy, just a little Thai place that has been around for awhile and used to have the most incredible egg rolls you ever tasted. Use to being the key words here. It was sold awhile back but we had heard that it was kept in the family. We have gone back a couple of times, the food was always good, but the big heartbreaker was that they changed the egg rolls. I could go on and on about those egg rolls. Sniff sniff. The reason we went back tonight is because my mom wanted to, and a couple of months ago, they had a great review from the Auto-Club magazine, Westways. Well, as my dad said tonight, "Bye bye, My Thai!" Robert ordered chicken, and it came out a good 15 minutes before everyone else's dinner, the waitress used a pass thru to hand my mom her food, and our food was bland. Thai food especially, should not be bland.
One thing is for sure though, we had fun. My parents can find humor in just about every situation and tonight was no different. Happy anniversary mom and dad.

I swear I heard myself laugh

Back in July, my sister got 4 tickets to see The King of Queens filmed out here at Sony Studios. Originally, her and her husband Mark and my parents were going to go. Mark has a crazy work schedule. And as luck would have it, he couldn't go, so guess who went instead? Oh my goodness, I laughed so hard! My sister loves the show, has a couple of seasons on dvd, and is basically a huge fan. I have watched the show, but never made time to sit down for it. Well, this show is hilarious. Kevin James is a comic genius. I have a new appreciation for sitcoms on tv. One the best part of seeing it filmed were all of the different scene takes they would do. On most of them, Kevin James would improvise and say something different each time. Seeing it filmed was fascinating. I've lived in LA all my life and have never done this. The set is incredible, just to be able to see the rooms up close was neat. I even got a script, and at the end of the show was able to have all of the cast members sign it. So, last night the show we saw filmed was on tv. I really did hear myself laugh. My niece is positive she heard my sister laugh, and my sister is positive she heard my dad laughing. The episode was entitled, "Brace Yourself, " and if you get the chance, watch it.

Christmas day

Merry Christmas! We went to Mass on Christmas Eve, then out to dinner with Robert's family. After that we went over to my mother in law's house for gifts. All in all, it was fun, but we need to figure out a different time for next year. We didn't get home until eleven, and by then Harrison was tired and cranky. Charlie was wired, but they still fell asleep quickly.
We had a wonderful day yesterday. The boys got up a little too early, but how can you tell them to go back to sleep on Christmas? You can't, so we all got up. I started making breakfast and after that was in the oven, we got down to the business at hand, opening presents. Everyone was thrilled with their gifts. Robert surprised me, as he always does. He got me a new lens for the camera, and it turns out a sweet little bird told him what to get. Thanks Elizabeth, I love it! :) Yep, Robert emailed my friend Elizabeth and got the info from her, all unbeknownst to me. Even the delivery was special, we have a LGB Christmas train around our tree. It was Robert's fathers, and now it is ours. Robert put the lens in one of the train cars and "delivered" it to me on the other side of the tree. He is so thoughtful. As for the boys, it was a Playmobil and Lego Christmas here. They are beyond excited, and of course, they want to open everything right now. I am just trying to get the house in some kind of order before everything is opened.
We spent the day yesterday, at my sister's house. My parents were there too. More gifts! I am especially pleased with this one from my sister, her husband and my neice:

Anyone else remember these movies? I am so excited, what a trip down memory lane it will be.
We had our traditional tamale dinner, and I think I gained about ten pounds yesterday alone. But it was sooooo worth it. We also had our Christmas crackers, or poppers. We all laughed at the corny jokes that are inside each one, and the silly little gifts. I got a shoe horn in mine, and Harrison was particularly pleased with the mini set of screw drivers that were in his. Just what he needs.
