Christmas 2008

We had a pretty good Christmas here at our home. Christmas Eve was spent with Robert's mom and sister. We all went out to dinner then headed to Grandmama's for gifts. The boys could hardly contain themselves through dinner. And Audrey? Well she handled it all very well. She got impatient with me and our waitress, Roxanne picked up the spoon and started feeding her and she didn't mind at all. Heck, as long as someone is feeding her she's fine. She looked so sweet in her velvet dress that Grammie made. The only downside was that it was a long evening. We are going to have to figure out a different time next year so everyone can get a good night's sleep.

Christmas morning the boys woke us up around 8. I was thankful, I thought it was going to be much earlier. They ran into the living room to find Wall-E sitting there waiting for them. Harrison got a Nintendo Ds and Charlie got a Leapster2. We had a great time with our gifts. After opening, we enjoyed some Monkey bread.

I started the mad dash to clean up and get ready for Christmas dinner. My parents and sister and her family came over around 2. We always start with our stockings first, then dive into the gifts. The boys got the Playmobil circus from my parents. Oh boy, can you say excited? My sister surprised me with a popcorn maker. I have always secretly wanted one, and the funny thing is that I was with her when she bought it and I never would have guessed in a million years. We enjoyed a Honeybaked ham dinner and some yummy desserts. We got the giggles over my mom's frosting which had candy cane chunks in it. It always seemed to get really quiet whenever someone would take a bite and all you could hear was, "CRUNCH, CRUNCH." It was a wonderful day that ended with my niece and Robert playing a round of Guitar Hero. Maddie won too. ;) I almost forgot! Charlie's tooth fell out that night. He was so excited and relieved , it has been worrying him ever since he first found that it was loose. Just look at how proud he is.

on the 8th day before Christmas...

Audrey got her hair cut. Honestly, if she could I would expect her to proclaim, "I can see!" Her hair has been a mess and she normally is pretty good about having a barrette in it. Lately she has started pulling them out though, so I had to intervene. I trimmed her bangs today while she was in her car seat. I think it turned out just fine, I know Robert is breathing a sigh of relief too.
I know I am so far behind with the 12 Days of Christmas photo challenge. I'm working on it. I have a couple of photos to post. I will later.

I've been tagged. This is a fun little photo game to do. It's simple too, right about my speed. You take the fourth photo out of the fourth folder on your computer. Voila. My photo is from July of 2004. Charlie had just turned two, and he and Robert were riding around the backyard on Robert's skateboard. I wish you could tell how fast they were coming around the corner. When I look at this, I can't get over how much Audrey looks like her big brother. They could be twins. Here is a peek of the new bookshelves filled! Can you guess what I did this weekend? I am trying to take it easy, I am still fighting this cold which has now made it's home in my chest.
That's all for now. :)

*Edited to add that the lights still need their covers, we had the ceiling scraped last week of the old popcorn finish and it still needed to dry. Now we are going to tile over the fireplace, then we are done. For now.

ten on Tuesday

1. December already? Maybe I should start to think about Christmas cards. Hmmmm.
2. I will tell you that our Thanksgiving was nice. Robert's aunt really can cook. Too bad he missed out on it. I woke up on Thanksgiving morning to the sound of Robert getting sick in the bathroom. What followed was 24 hours of the stomach flu.

3. I am really thankful that none of us got the stomach flu except for him. He and Charlie stayed home and Harrison, Audrey and I drove out to Aunt Ginnys. Audrey stole the show in her earthquake dress.

4. I thought I had escaped getting sick, I should have known better. I didn't get the flu, just a mighty, mighty head cold.
5. You know it's bad when your mom accidentally calls your house and when you answer she says, "I'm sorry, I dialed the wrong number" and you say, "Mom, it's me." I know I sound like a dude.
6. The weather is finally getting a little cooler. Mind you, that's California standards. We're talking in the 60s.
7. Charlie has a loose tooth.
8. Audrey likes to grind her teeth. The sound is awful, very much like fingernails on a chalkboard.
9. Christmas shopping is well underway and close to being done.
