First off, Halloween. We had a good time. Audrey amazed us all and stayed up the entire time we trick-or-treated. I think she must have been fascinated with everything going on. Clone Trooper Rex and Anakin made out like bandits in the candy department. So did I. :o I have to watch that. ;) My niece, Maddie is the way cool hippie chick. Doesn't she look great? My mom sewed her costume this year.
We started out the day with a field trip to the Port of Los Angeles, for a boat cruise and tour of the maritime museum. See those waving hands from the boat? That's my sister and Harrison. Why was I on land you ask? Well, I have a mean case of motion sickness. It really is pitiful. I fully intended to enjoy the tour too, but once I was on the boat and I felt it start to shift, that was enough for me and Charlie was all too happy to get off too. So he and I and Audrey toured the Ports O'Call Village while they enjoyed the boat tour. After that, we came home and carved pumpkins. I gave the boys Sharpies and told them to draw their pumpkin designs. I did the cutting. Pretty easy, and Charlie drew a great Jack Skellington pumpkin.

Sunday morning Harrison and I got up way too early and headed to church for the annual Boy Scout Pancake Breakfast. And you know what? We had a good time. I have to remember to spend more one on one time with each of them. We sold tickets, set the tables and bonded with other scouting families. Doesn't he look cute?

My new bookshelves are in! They were installed the last couple of days, then painted. It is so hard not to load them up right away, but we have to wait for the paint to cure. Our contractor still has to install the doors along the bottom, and he will be back Monday to do that. We are thrilled with how it has turned out.
Our big galoot, Frankie had surgery on Wednesday to remove a mass on his hind leg. He is doing fine now, the pathology results are still out. I am hoping for good news. I need it. He is doing ok, he has a big elizabethan collar that he has to wear that is just so sad to see. He looks so woebegone. The stitches are in for 14 days, so he hasn't got a choice.
The election. I debated about even saying something about it, but it is a momentous occasion and I don't want the kids to look back one day and not see anything here regarding it. We elected the first African American president on Tuesday. Well, I didn't elect him. I am proud of my country though, just not with this particular choice. I have said before that President elect Obama has a lot to prove to me. It's no secret, or shouldn't come as a surprise that I am a conservative Catholic. That alone should tell you where my heart lies. Was I disappointed? You betcha. :P Did I cry after he was elected? No, I think that is a little pathetic. I did indulge in a glass of wine. After all, my sweet hubby was right, the sun did indeed come out on Wednesday. Am I hopeful? Yes, that's all we've got. I hope he proves me wrong. I want him to prove me wrong. I was never going to say anything here, but I have been bombarded with propaganda from the left. I finally said, "enough". You can stand up for what you believe in, even if you feel like you are all alone. There are a few things in life I am willing to fall on my sword for and the lives of the unborn is one of them. I think Obama's policies on that particular subject are disgraceful. When I was growing up it was always hush hush about who was being voted for. Oh how I long for those days. So enough is enough. I deeply respect my friends who hold different beliefs than I do. That is all I ask for too. And with that, I am done talking about politics for at least 4 years. :)
Have a good weekend! I am going to the Disneyland Hotel tomorrow for a wonderful luncheon that has become somewhat of a tradition.
Oh yeah, and I'll still be waiting for the paint to dry.

I am proud to call you friend, Jenny.
And, it's a good thing I don't live in California anymore because I might be tempted to break in and steal your new bookshelves.
I love your new shelves, Jenny! Great Halloween costumes too!
Love those shelves! and what a cute Cub Scout! :)
You are an honored and special friend Jenny.
I think you are right, we all need to hope and pray.

I'm glad you said how you felt, too :) I like to know my friends' hearts regarding such big matters.
I love those bookshelves! Enjoy filling them up.

all i have to say is rainbow order is very soothing ;)
I am with you Jenny! I am not ashamed to say that I voted for McCain and I believe my reasons were good and valid. Obama still has a lot to prove to me as well. And I do have hope that he will accomplish even parts of what he has promised. Time will tell.
Sounds like a lovely Halloween and I have to say agree about the one on one time. I love having special one on one time with Evan now that Erin is here. She is pretty demanding of me at times because she is so little. I know Evan is feeling a little left out these days. But I'm trying :0)
Also, love, love your new shelves! They are gorgeous. Now the fun of filling them up :0)
And thanks for the lovely comment on my blog on my mom's birthday post. It really made me smile :0)
