busy, busy and Wall-E

I have never understood how we can be so busy in the summer time when school is out and we should be relaxing, but instead we always have something to do. This summer is no exception. It seems like we have been busy every day, or just about. First things first, we are enrolled in our library's summer reading program. That's Harrison getting ready to report on his first two stories. He's got to read six to be eligible for the party at the end of the program and I think he is going to pass that number up. Charlie and Audrey (yes, I thought it was silly to sign her up but the librarians insisted) are enrolled in the read-to-me program and if you follow me on Goodreads, all of the children's books I've added lately are for the reading program. We are having fun and discovering some gems along the way.

Today we drove out to Burbank to go to a Wall-E function on the Disney lot. We got to see where Robert works too and that was fun. He is not on the lot, but just around the corner. It was crowded and hot, not a good combination but everyone did surprisingly well. I even got to drive a Segway! I know it looks like I'm not even moving, but trust me. I had that baby cruising at a whopping 2-5 mph. It was really fun and very sensitive to your movements. I loved it and it didn't take long to get the hang of it. We ate at the commissary and walked around the lot. Disney is just a magical place. I loved all of the bikes everywhere. People leave them out and if you need to get to another area on the lot why, you can just take a bike. None of them are locked, it is Disney after all. The boys have their hands in the handprints of Tim Conway, comic genius! Does that huge wardrobe look familiar? It should if you've seen, "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe." The Disney archives office was my favorite. I could have spent a lot of time in there looking at what else, books! But the lady that was working in there was kind of a sourpuss. I can't imagine why she wouldn't love her job. The day was a lot of fun, but I'll tell you was not fun. The traffic coming home. Yeesh. I give Robert a lot of credit for driving in it every day. It's lucky he loves what he does. Tomorrow the boys are going to see Wall-E at the theater and I have a day of relaxing planned. Heh. We'll see how long that lasts. :)

Have a good weekend!

It looks like you had a great time!!

Summer reading programs were my favourite as a kid. Sophie has to be a bit older yet, but I can't wait for her to get involved. She'll be a reader, after all :)
