my childhood quilt

I managed to get some photos taken of my quilt this weekend. It has a lot of damage, which I prefer to think of as "love". Nana pieced this together from what I can imagine was an incredible stash of fabric. She made a good portion of our clothes, and had fabric from things she had made for my mom. My favorite is the heart pattern, those little hearts are flocked velvet. She embroidered "Sweet dreams Jenny" on it in Spanish. Why she did it in Spanish, I've no idea. My sister's is in English. I find this pretty funny, because from what I can remember, Nana didn't speak a lick of Spanish. My Grandmother did, maybe Nana got the idea from Grandma V. :)

Those pictures just make me smile... I finally had to toss a quilt my grandma made for me... it was SO threadbare. And literally falling apart. It made me so sad.

Your quilt looks SO well loved. What a treasure!

oh what a beautiful treasure! That is a great assortment of fabric.

I have a quilt from my grandma. An incomplete quilt. Her mom had put it together, but I think it is missing its backing. It is beautiful but I don't know how to finish and I surely don't want to ruin it.

I love quilts but haven't made one since middle school.
Thinking about taking some refresher classes though. Your's is very inspiring!

This is beautiful, Jenny- the spanish sentiment just makes me giggle. She must have wanted to keep you on your toes!
